Uptown Charlotte Homes in Distinct Areas at the Intersection of Tryon and Trade Streets

The area surrounded by the John Belk and Brookshire freeways and I-77 is considered Uptown Charlotte. This neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina has approximately 13,000 residents living in the homes in Uptown, which originally was divided into four districts or wards as they are referred to today. The Tryon and Trade streets intersection splits the four wards. There will be continued growth in these distinct areas as people believe it to be one of the trendiest residential neighborhoods in Charlotte.
Understanding the different districts helps clarify the vibrancy and excitement of the area. The First Ward is anchored with light rail, the LYNX Blue Line, originating at 7th Street. It has a range of housing options from apartments to single-family homes near Uptown. Becoming a true residential area, Second Ward has been known for its nightlife with great clubs and lounges. With resurgence in recent years, the Third Ward is home to Carolina Panthers and after Johnson & Wales University opened its doors in 2004 it truly revolutionized the Third Ward neighborhood. Initiated in the 70s, the revitalization of the Fourth Ward was the first in the area and now includes a Victorian atmosphere with homes, condominiums and apartments.
