Uptown Charlotte Homes in Distinct Areas at the Intersection of Tryon and Trade Streets

The area surrounded by the John Belk and Brookshire freeways and I-77 is considered Uptown Charlotte. This neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina has approximately 13,000 residents living in the homes in Uptown, which originally was divided into four districts or wards as they are referred to today. The Tryon and Trade streets intersection splits the four wards. There will be continued growth in these distinct areas as people believe it to be one of the trendiest residential neighborhoods in Charlotte.
Understanding the different districts helps clarify the vibrancy and excitement of the area. The First Ward is anchored with light rail, the LYNX Blue Line, originating at 7th Street. It has a range of housing options from apartments to single-family homes near Uptown. Becoming a true residential area, Second Ward has been known for its nightlife with great clubs and lounges. With resurgence in recent years, the Third Ward is home to Carolina Panthers and after Johnson & Wales University opened its doors in 2004 it truly revolutionized the Third Ward neighborhood. Charlotte, North Carolina Real Estate is Looking Good Today

The real estate market has been all over the map, today sales figures are looking good

Up, down, sideways, back and forth, it sounds like a game of hopscotch but is actually the way the economy, recession and the Charlotte real estate market have been moving. Mastering what is going on has had experts and professionals confounded, wondering how we can all come out ahead of the game. There is one aspect that most can agree on, good news is great to hear.

Today’s national headlines show that real estate contracts are up in volume. The good news is for housing affected stocks, as they increased in price. Some believe that the Spring buying season is starting early and it is good news for Charlotte, including homes near Freedom Park or homes in Dilworth and Cotswold. December has rarely, if ever, thought of as a Spring month but December showed that the Pending Home Sales Index is up over 10%.

There is no doubt that the local real estate market is faring better than a year ago. To continue coming out ahead job growth needs to improve, interest rates need to remain low and consumer confidence has to continue growing. So far 2010 is looking better than 2009 and I anticipate real estate sales, particularly homes for sale in Charlotte neighborhoods, will continue to rise.

Plaza-Midwood has Turn-of-the-Century Charm and Beauty in Charlotte, North Carolina

With a distinctive architectural legacy, homes in Plaza Midwood have formed a picturesque neighborhood with a diverse community and flourishing business sector. Having experienced an migration from downtown Charlotte, NC real estate with the urban flight of the 1950s and 1960s, the Plaza Midwood Neighborhood Association (PMNA) eventually was organized. By the mid-1970s, after some deterioration in parts of the neighborhood, a group of residents of Plaza-Midwood banded together with a goal to preserve their neighborhood.

The Plaza-Midwood Local Historic District was formed in August 1975 as a result of these efforts. Today, it is the model for the designation process. Plaza Midwood homes have been restored to their turn-of-the-century charm and beauty, consisting primarily of bungalow-style homes in this predominant residential neighborhood. Shaded by ancient pin oaks with front-yard gardens lining the sidewalks of these pedestrian-friendly streets, the neighborhood celebrates Midwood Maynia festival held in Midwood Park. This past Saturday, Feb. 13, the Winter Fling was fun-filled event held at the opulent setting of the beautiful VanLandingham Estate.
